Four Ways to Get Your Home Ready to Sell

OreillyTeam-CircleMasterFile-Nov15Taking some time to get your home ready to go on the market before you put the sign up can make all the difference in getting your home sold very quickly.  Just a few preparations can make your home look more attractive and give you the edge you need to find a buyer.  Here are four ways to get your home ready to sell:

  1. Check your curb appeal. How does the front of your home look?  Are there overgrown bushes, a lawn that needs fertilizer or tons of weeds?  If this describes how your home looks, then taking the time to clean up your front yard will help it to look inviting and increase your overall curb appeal.  If you don’t have the time or expertise to do it yourself, there are plenty of landscaping companies that can help you to get your front yard in ship shape.

  1. Wash the windows. Dirty windows can give your home the appearance of not being cared for and can make the rooms look darker than they really are.  You can use a mixture of vinegar and water to get your windows really clean and sparkling.

  1. Put away excess family pictures. It sounds a little strange, but when people come into your home to purchase it, they want to visualize it as their home.  Having pictures of your family prevents that.  Try to put away as many of your family pictures as you can and allow your buyer to see themselves in your home.

  1. Clean your closets. Buyers love storage space, so make sure your closets are clean and tidy.  Excess items can be boxed in anticipation of your move or put in a storage unit to ensure that you have plenty of storage space to show to visitors.
