A Closer Look at a Geauga County Real Estate Auction
With Geauga County auctions becoming more and more popular, we thought we would give you a closer look at what an actual Ohio real estate auction looked like based on a sale that happened recently in Burton.
Dan O’Reilly was approached by the sellers of a farm that had been in the family for more than 150 years. This picturesque property included a home, a detached three car garage covering more than five acres. The entire property was offered for sale and included more than eighty acres as a complete package.
Once the sellers understood the process of selling their home and land through a Geauga County auction, Dan promoted the auction through several means to get the word out about the property that was being offered. Dan and his team created a specific webpage for the property as well as a video that online buyers could view. Promotions also included social media and other advertising.
As the auction got nearer, Dan and his team held a few open houses. This allowed potential buyers to look at the property in depth as well as complete any inspections that they felt were needed on the home as it was being offered on an “as-is” basis.
On the day of the auction, Dan and his team provided the opportunity for buyers to place their bids in person and virtually. The property ended up selling in 6 different tracts to 6 different buyers, selling for more than $680,000 and on average about $8,500 for acre, which is above average for the area.
