Bring Your Home to Life with Curb Appeal

OreillyTeam-CircleMasterFile8-Nov15Spring has finally arrived in the Geauga County area.  With the melting snow, you may have noticed that the front of your home isn’t looking as attractive as it could.  This can be a real problem if you are planning on putting your home on the market.  Here are just a few ways that you can bring your home to life with curb appeal:

  • Take a look at your landscaping. The winters can be really hard on Ohio landscaping.  From leaves that have blown into beds to plants that have died over the winter, your landscaping might need a little TLC.  The first step to improving your curb appeal is a good clean up.  Take the time to clean out all of your beds, making sure that winter debris and leaves are removed.  You will be able to see what else needs to get done once things are cleaned up.
  • Add colorful flowers. There is nothing that says spring like colorful flowers. From pansies to daffodils, colorful flowers can really make your home look appealing.  If you haven’t planted bulbs in the fall, consider getting a couple of flower baskets and putting them by your front door.  This will give your home a welcoming look.
  • Trim branches and shrubs. Overgrown branches and shrubs can really detract from your home’s curb appeal.  Step back from your home and look at which branches and shrubs are covering windows, walkways, doors and are crowding your home.  Once these are trimmed, you will notice that the interior of your home is even lighter and brighter than before.
  • Paint (or replace) your front door. Your front door is the gateway to the interior of your home.  Adding a coat of paint or even replacing your front door can be a great way to create curb appeal.
